Ken Wilber

 Athletic, two meters tall sun-tanned Ken Wilber (born 1949) with a shaved head is a unique and outstanding phenomenon in the landscape of science not only due to his impressive appearance.

Wilber quit his academic studies in his early youth and retreated into reclusion for meditation and working through books. He has created a unique integral world philosophy which does not leave even the most distant corners of eternity without notice – from matter to spirit, from Marx to Buddha – and he has written his knowledge down into about 20 books.  

Due to his huge working capacity and withdrawal from all complementary activities (such as teaching at the universities, participation in conferences) Wilber has probably worked through more works than any other contemporary academic. But his approach is not only a theoretical one. A directly personal and deep spiritual experience goes along with his theories as Wilber has been regularly praciticing meditation throughout his whole life and controls his brain waves and states of awareness at least as skillfully as the most experienced yogis and holy men.
