Pema Chödrön

Pema Chödrön is a Buddhist nun of US origin and one of the most prominent students of the renowned meditation teacher Chögyam Trungpa. She is the author of several books (including The Wisdom of No Escape and Start Where You Are).

Pema Chödrön shares with us the courageous and profound advice based on traditional Buddhist wisdom for acting in difficult times. This is advice that is contradictory to our everyday practice and expectations. According to her teaching only one approach to suffering has a lasting effect – we may in a friendly and curious way move towards painful situations, finding relaxation in the situation which in its essence is an unstable one. And there, among chaos, we find unbreakable truth and love.

Pema Chödrön lives and teaches in Gampo Abbey which is the first Tibetan monastery that was established in North America for Westerners (Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada).

In 2007 the publishing house Pilgrim published Chödrön’s book Practicing Peace in Times on War  which teaches how to maintain peace during the times of crises.
