Original book "Meie inimesed" ("Our People") of Pilgrim Publishers is a book to Estonia and about Estonia. The book with a parallel text in English is a beautiful gift to every Estonian and to our guests.

Book tells us stories about us, as we live here in a small country side by side, remembering, who we are and what in our being we consider as important.

Everybody in this book has his or her mission. It may be simple and personal, like just getting to be  a better person. Others hoe their own row with the characteristically Estonian quality of jonn-tenacity. It may start as „one’s own“ but with dedication it might turn into „ours“. It might start to expand and start influencing a much broader area.

The book contains ideas from about fifty people. They are forthright, honest and emotional images people have of their home. The book does not aim to give a statistical summary of different attitudes. The stories are told by 82 years old lady-singer, 9 years old schoolboy and a female teacher of Kazakh origin. Every story worth listening to stand on its own. They may be gentle or harsh, just like the narrator, but they have not been embellished. No moralizing or agendas here. These are simply sounds, smells, images that have to become part of the soul.

What is it in Estonians, what others dont have? The book reveals the truth, that Estonians still have characteristics and abilities, which help them to hold on and make a difference.

Between stories and people give a space to breathtaking photoes by Remo Savisaar and Annika Haas of rare moments in nature and of the beauty of daily doings.
